THE H.E.L.P. KIT

The Humanitarian Experiential Learning & Planning (HELP) kit includes analog tools, which can be combined with add-on online digital aids. The kit aims to provide organizations with a quick and cost-effective scenario-building tool to tailor their training solutions to immediate needs.

Undocumented: Journey to the American Dream

This tabletop exercise simulates the journey of undocumented migrants from Mexico to the United States. The goal is to raise awareness on the realities of migration and exile. It can also highlight, at a personal level, the importance of empathy and understanding, as well as the dangers that displaced persons face on a daily basis.

Climate Crisis: Category 5

Category 5 explores the inter-agency cooperation needed to address a complex humanitarian crisis. Based on real-world events and challenges, it highlights hurricane-specific preparation, mitigation and recovery required to bolster preparedness for such disasters. Category 5 can be played up to four teams and includes a solo mode.

2050: The Last City (TLC)

2050: TLC is a multi-level and multi-disciplinary structure, designed to explore urban warfare and other various conflict scenarios with a detailed ruleset to guide gameplay within each scenario. Based in a fictitious world, each country has a background, a doctrine, a civilian population, and natural resources. Préposé

Préposé is a tabletop experience that simulates the role of a caregiver who provides wellbeing services and care to the residents. The game covers day-to-day care, including food distribution and resident waste and cleanliness management, while also taking into consideration the individuality and personality of each resident and any ailments they may have. The add-on includes a pandemic module.

Branches

Branches is an introductory foresight game designed for and with the Canadian Forestry Service branch of Natural Resources Canada. The game aims to foster creativity and develop imagination from the interpretation of weak signals to the development of possible futures. Players take on an overarching role in the forestry-related industry in a fictional world, driving a narrative and building upon their choices.

Game Design 101

Game Design 101 is an online hands-on process designed to give new game designers the practical experience necessary to build skills quickly and efficiently.

Participants will go through 101 iterations of the design process, from the ideation phase to the development of a first prototype, which will then be playtested with IMAGINETIC mentors. Game Design 101 allows participants to apply various game mechanics in a safe-to-fail environment. The process encourages experimentations and mistakes as to capitalize on lessons learnt. Through constant feedback, Game Design 101 is an ideal approach for new designers to reach learning outcomes in their own time.

Game Design Course

This game design course offers a series of lectures and workshops to introduce participants to serious game design. This course aims at providing participants with a working understanding and knowledge of relevant game mechanics, facilitation methods and design methodologies. Whilst lectures and presentations will cover a variety of topics such as Matrix Games, Hybrid Games, Scenario Design, Game Facilitation, Games as teaching tools, Games as analytical tools, etc… the course also offers a series of practical workshops which offers participants with the opportunity to develop, fine-tune and present their own prototype. 

IMAGINETIC Bootcamps

Year-round Bootcamp: Members of the IMAGINETIC’s Advisory Board meet online on a weekly basis for a two-hour session on Thursdays from 08:00 to 10:00 (UTC-4 Montréal time) to explore the fundamentals of game design and development. Every week, the team discuss various topics and undergo practical exercises, the regular interventions of guests allows dynamic discussions and exchange. Members are welcome to present their own topics or prototypes for each sessions.

Minimum 40 sessions/years (80hours). These sessions are accessible via a yearly subscription fee.

Private Bootcamp: IMAGINETIC offers private bootcamps for individuals or companies whom wish to develop specific skills at their own pace. This bespoke solution allows each cohort to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to design, develop, and implement games that solve problems, educate and train in professional settings.
